Hydrodynamic cavitation allows better homogenisation between the solid (bio stabilised - SOF) and liquid (landfill leachate) components of the mixture. The first hydrodynamic cavitation tests were performed by using SOF and landfill leachate. Cavitation tests were conducted at two different set point temperatures (60°C – 80°C) at the Soldo Cavitator facility. Further preliminary tests of HTC were carried out by using the cavitated mixture of bio stabilised and landfill leachate. The results demonstrated the optimal cavitation condition was at the set point temperature of 60°C. An experimental design consisting of 13 HTC tests was developed by varying residence time and temperature.
